Introducing our Colostrum Collection kit – the first of its kind in South Africa! As a new mom, you want to give your baby the best possible start in life. Colostrum, the first form of breastmilk your baby will drink, is a thick, sticky, yellowish liquid that is high in antibodies and antioxidants. It’s the perfect nutrition to build a strong immune system for your little one. The benefits of colostrum are numerous. It is low in quantity but high in calories, making it the perfect food for your baby’s tiny tummy. Your baby only needs a few milliliters per feed right after birth. Colostrum also helps reduce the risk of infections and illnesses in your baby.
To make sure you’re able to collect colostrum easily and efficiently, our Colostrum Collection kit is an absolute must-have. With your midwife or gynecologist’s approval, you can start your breastfeeding journey from 36 weeks gestation. Our kit is also the perfect bag to take with you to the hospital to hand express in the first few days after giving birth. Hand expressing during this time will reduce trauma to your nipples, which is why it’s so beneficial to your breastfeeding journey and your overall comfort.

Why is it important to express colostrum and what are the importance?
According to the WHO 2009, colostrum is your baby’s very first immunisation! It is packed with antibodies, antioxidants and is important to build a strong immune system for your baby. Colostrum is the first form of breastmilk your baby will drink. It is a thick, sticky, yellowish liquid, high in calories and low in quantity. Your baby only needs a few milliliters per feed in the first few days of life. Remember that any amount of colostrum will be exceptionally beneficial to your baby.
Building up a supply of colostrum is useful in case your baby needs extra feeds due to sugar levels dropping, or if you are on strong medication and are unable to breastfeed your baby. If you are diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes this will be handy to express colostrum with your doctor’s approval. This will eliminate the need to offer formula. Rather offer your baby stored colostrum.
It is also good to have stored colostrum if you know your baby will need special care or if you may be separated from your baby.
Colostrum changes to breastmilk within a couple of days after your baby’s birth. You only have limited time to express this amazing liquid gold that your breasts have produced.

Little Bright Fox – is the most gorgeous studio ever! My little boy and I love attending class every week! This is an environment where we both feel safe and free to be ourselves. Not only has my baby learnt so much but so have I. We have made many friends and loads of beautiful memories that I will always be able to cherish for life. A HUGE THANK YOU to Dani and Jen for absolutely everything.
LOVE LOVE LOVE our weekly classes at Little Bright Fox. It’s most definitely the highlight of our week, not only do I learn fun activities to stimulate my baby with but as a new Mom you get the opportunity to just breathe and talk about your challenges with fellow Moms who are experiencing exactly the same thing.
Added bonus you leave with a tired bubs ready for a nap
Highly recommend Little Bright Fox! In February, I started at the moms and cubs group for new moms and all I can say is WOW! What an absolutely amazing course! My little man and I were guided through incredible stimulation activities which we continue to work on at home. This helps his growth both physically and mentally. Danielle and Jen are organised, the studio is gorgeous and clean and the experience is all round phenomenal.
If you’re still unsure about joining – just do it! I promise you’ll love it. We all do.
My daughter and I love visiting the Little Bright Fox Mom and Baby Studio and have been attending classes since she was 8 weeks old (she is now 7months). It is such a warm, welcoming environment and it is the highlight of our week to visit the studio for our weekly classes. My daughter has such a fun time and I love learning about the physical and mental stimulation activities that we also practice at home. Thank you Jen and Danielle for providing us with such a fantastic experience. Xxx
Such a beautiful environment to meet other mommies and learn new and fun ways to engage with my newborn. I gained confidence and skills to apply with baby’s development. My baby loved the activities that we did. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and willing to offer advice based on their wealth of experience, and they go out of their way to equip parents with as much knowledge as they can to raise healthy happy kiddos.
Mom and Baby classes are a MUST in the first few months of your child’s life. It’s a great place to learn and more importantly socialise with other mommies! Little Bright Fox 🦊 has a fantastic setup with a community of experts at your disposal. I would really highly recommend this Mom and Baby studio to any new mommy.
